SUMMARY:The Joy of Simplicity
DESCRIPTION:The Joy of Simplicity\nEaster Bank Holiday Retreat \nOur complex world can tempt us to spend a lot of time in our heads. During this weekend retreat\, the focus will be on meditation practice as a way to savour the uniqueness of each moment and rediscover the joy of simply being.\n \nMany of us today find that we are fragmented into different aspects. So many contradictory voices\, dictates\, and feelings fight for control over our inner lives that we find ourselves scattered everywhere\, in all directions. We have lost the sense of being.\n \nThrough the practice of meditation we bring our minds home. We reconnect with that sense of being. By integrating meditation into our day to day lives we discover that simplicity and contentment go hand in hand\, leaving plenty of space for joy to arise.\n \nWho is this for?\n \nThis retreat is for you if\, for example:\n \n\nYou are looking for an effective way to simplify your life.\n\nYou spend a lot of time in your head and could do with some grounding.\n\nYou want a fresh approach to living a meaningful life\, but sense it needs to be simple and effective.\n\nYou read books and watched videos on meditation\, but so far your practice seems a bit flat.\n\nYou want to establish a daily meditation practice.\n\nWhat to expect\n \nThis retreat offers a step by step approach to meditation that is easy to integrate into your daily life.\n \n\nTried-and-tested instructions on meditation\n\n\nGuided meditations\n\nTime to reflect\nDiscussion on how we can apply what we learned in our day to day life\nMeditation and the Art of Simplicity\n\n\nThis retreat is inspired by this quote by the great Tibetan Buddhist master Dilgo Khyentse Rinpoche: “Meditation could be said to be the Art of Simplicity: simply sitting\, simply breathing and simply being.”\n. \n“This retreat went beyond my expectations. The facilitators were gentle\, kind and wise with great experience and knowledge. The group regained my faith in human nature.” – Deirdre \n“This retreat offers a beautiful and sacred blend of meditation\, reflection\, connection and space to provide a coming home to oneself\, remembering what you hold dear to your life\, honouring all parts of yourself\, building community and set in a majestic\, spiritual and vast landscape. The food and accommodation is divine and homely. The teachers were wise\, kind and welcoming. Go raibh mile maith agat.” – Michelle \nLocation\nThe retreat will be held in the Dzogchen Beara Temple. With expansive views across the bay\, the temple is a modern example of a traditional Tibetan monastery\, a form of architecture designed to be an inspiring symbol of the Buddha’s teachings for our times.

SUMMARY:Advanced Deep Listening
DESCRIPTION:Advanced Deep Listening\nDeepening Awareness\, Connection\, and Compassion in Listening \nThis live\, experiential course is for listeners who wish to build upon the foundation of their previous deep listening training. It is open to those who have completed four to five days of Deep Listening Training and are ready to explore the subtler dimensions of engaged deep listening practice. \nIn this advanced level\, we deepen our experiential understanding of how listening transforms both listener and speaker using the three core skills model of embodied awareness\, supportive presence and compassionate connection. Through guided exercises\, meditations\, and reflections\, we cultivate the awareness and sensitivity needed to meet others — and ourselves — with kindness\, clarity\, and presence. \nRecent research in neuroscience and psychology reveals how profoundly we affect one another during communication — not only compassionately and emotionally\, but also on physiological and neurological levels. In this course\, we bring these insights alive through embodied awareness and the practice of true listening: recognising the mutual influence and resonance that take place whenever we truly meet another. \nThemes and explorations include: \n\nApplying the model and method of Advanced Centred Deep Listening\nExploring the nature of compassionate connection\, and when is it not compassion\nGentle awareness of the dynamics of vulnerability in listening relationships\nApplying the technique of “Focusing” to embodiment when listening\nApplying Deep Listening method in a range of settings and groups.\nAdvice-giving and the role of discernment within the listening relationship\nTrauma sensitivity and awareness when listening\nResponding to the wide range of existential issues arising\, as part of deep listening\n\nThis course offers a nourishing and safe container to experience ways of deepening confidence\, presence\, and relational depth through experiential deep listening. \nWho is this For? \nFollow-on course for previous participants who have completed 5-day Deep Listening Intensives at Dzogchen Beara or similar elsewhere. Places are in high demand so early booking is advised. \nWhat people say about Deep Listening Intensive\n“Thank you sincerely. This was the most helpful course I have ever done -twice!”. – Deborah\, Therapist \n“Again an inspiring and powerful few days.”\n\n“This will be very helpful for me to apply in my work as well as in my personal life.” \n\n“ Helped me to be present with my whole heart — that is what I am going to do in my work.”” \n\n“It is wonderful how safe the atmosphere felt and how we created a common feeling of compassion.” \n\n“It was one big learning experience\, very moving and powerful\, transformative even.” \nLocation\nThe retreat will be held in the Dzogchen Beara Temple. With expansive views across the bay\, the temple is a modern example of a traditional Tibetan monastery\, a form of architecture designed to be an inspiring symbol of the Buddha’s teachings for our times.

SUMMARY:A New Way of Seeing
DESCRIPTION:A New Way of Seeing\nFrom Knowledge to Insight\nwith Teacher and Author Dominique Side \nHundreds of thousands of people in the West now practise meditation — but is our practice really helping us when life gets difficult and we need it the most? \nThis weekend retreat explores the real-world challenges we face when trying to live a spiritual life\, especially through the lens of Buddhism — a tradition that often contrasts sharply with our own cultural habits and assumptions.\nMisunderstandings\, unconscious biases and cultural conditioning can all get in the way of genuine insight and growth and prevent us from going deeper.\nFor meditational practices to bring real benefit it’s vital for each of us to make personal sense of ideas like wisdom\, karma\, rebirth\, freedom and emotional transformation. \nWith Dominique’s fresh approach to the topic\, you can expect a weekend that will be dynamic and interactive\, with opportunities for personal reflection\, group dialogue and questions & answers. By questioning what the Buddha taught — and our own ways of thinking — the aspiration is to uncover fresh clarity and confidence in our spiritual path. The main point is to ensure that whatever Buddhist practice we do is a real support in these uncertain times. \nAs a teacher\, Dominique is known for her extraordinary kindness and non-judgmental approach to her students. She has the rare ability to seamlessly combine rigorous scholarship with genuine heart-to-hearts with whoever is in the room. \nWhat people say about A New Way of Seeing\n“This has been the best few days. I’ve learned so much about Buddhism. Dominique has a beautiful voice and is a delight to listen to. Her knowledge and ability to answer questions is extraordinary. I will highly recommend this to others.” – Josephine \nLocation\nThe retreat will be held in the Dzogchen Beara Temple. With expansive views across the bay\, the temple is a modern example of a traditional Tibetan monastery\, a form of architecture designed to be an inspiring symbol of the Buddha’s teachings for our times.

SUMMARY:Loving Kindness Weekend - June
DESCRIPTION:Loving Kindness – Setting the Heart Free\nIn today’s fast-paced world\, information overload and daily pressures can leave us feeling anxious\, lonely\, and emotionally guarded. When life gets overwhelming\, our hearts naturally close up. But there is a powerful way to break free from this cycle. \nFirst taught by the Buddha over 2\,500 years ago\, Loving-Kindness meditation is one of the most ancient and transformative practices in the Buddhist tradition. Known in the Pali language as metta\, it is the practice of cultivating an unconditional friendliness and warmth toward ourselves and all living beings. It is an active training of the heart\, acting as a direct antidote to fear\, anger\, loneliness\, and self-criticism. \nThe practice follows a deliberate\, step-by-step framework to expand our capacity for love toward ourselves and others. Love in this context is the cultivation of a steady\, open-hearted wish for the happiness and well-being of all beings—including ourselves. In a world that can feel so divided\, Loving-Kindness meditation remains a gentle yet profound tool of transformation\, reconnecting us with the immeasurable treasure of love within us. \nDuring this weekend retreat\, you will: \n\nStep-by-step exploration of the progressive stages of Loving Kindness (metta) practice.\nPersonal guidance and group\nCreate a practical plan to integrate loving-kindness into your modern daily life.\n\nEveryone is welcome—a gentle exploration of the practice suitable for beginners and a refresh for experienced meditators looking to deepen their practice. \nTestimonials \n“The sensitivity & grace that this course was delivered with was sublime. The facilitators embodied the qualities of loving kindness & I felt comfortable\, safe and held during the entire weekend” – Cara \n“Real deepening of both meditation and Loving Kindness in a perfect environment where even the birds are loving.” – Karin \n“A beautiful heart opening event\, held in great warmth and care” – Mary \nLocation\nThe retreat will be held in our new Dzogchen Beara Temple. With expansive views across the bay\, the temple is a modern example of a traditional Tibetan monastery\, a form of architecture designed to be an inspiring symbol of the Buddha’s teachings for our times.
