Many of us can feel we are doing something wrong if our mind is full of thoughts and distractions\, worries and feelings. At the beginning\, meditation is not about having an “empty” mind. If we can simply learn to stay present to all experience as it arises\, that is enough. That is meditation! \nAccording to the Buddhist teachings on meditation\, happiness depends entirely upon our mind and how it perceives\, so it is vital to take care and to become familiar with our mind. By gently practicing a simple method such as calm abiding (shamatha) meditation\, we pacify our scattered minds\, defuse our powerful emotions and overcome distraction. \nIf you want to attain perfect calmness in your meditation you should not be bothered by the various images you find in your mind. Let them come and let them go.
