The Buddhist teachings introduce us to our innate capacity for kindness, forgiveness and love. They show us the wisdom of acting with loving kindness, not out of moral obligation but because the true path to our own peace and fulfilment is through thinking of others. When we live compassionately this naturally brings us lasting happiness as well as becoming the cause of the happiness of others.

On this retreat Derek and Dorothea will explore meditations that develop the “Four Boundless Qualities” of the good heart: Loving Kindness (the wish to bring happiness to those who lack happiness), Compassion (the desire to free those who are suffering from their suffering), Joy (the wish that the happiness people have found will never desert them), and Equanimity (to see and treat all without bias, attachment, or aversion).

The programme will also include time for sharing in small groups, question and answer sessions and time to relax in nature.

Location

The retreat will be held in our newly opened Temple, which is a modern example of a traditional Tibetan monastery designed to be an inspiring symbol of the Buddha’s teachings for our times.
