Advanced Deep Listening
Deepening Awareness, Connection, and Compassion in Listening
This live, experiential course is for listeners who wish to build upon the foundation of their previous deep listening training. It is open to those who have completed four to five days of Deep Listening Training and are ready to explore the subtler dimensions of engaged deep listening practice.
In this advanced level, we deepen our experiential understanding of how listening transforms both listener and speaker using the three core skills model of embodied awareness, supportive presence and compassionate connection. Through guided exercises, meditations, and reflections, we cultivate the awareness and sensitivity needed to meet others — and ourselves — with kindness, clarity, and presence.
Recent research in neuroscience and psychology reveals how profoundly we affect one another during communication — not only compassionately and emotionally, but also on physiological and neurological levels. In this course, we bring these insights alive through embodied awareness and the practice of true listening: recognising the mutual influence and resonance that take place whenever we truly meet another.
Themes and explorations include:
- Applying the model and method of Advanced Centred Deep Listening
- Exploring the nature of compassionate connection, and when is it not compassion
- Gentle awareness of the dynamics of vulnerability in listening relationships
- Applying the technique of “Focusing” to embodiment when listening
- Applying Deep Listening method in a range of settings and groups.
- Advice-giving and the role of discernment within the listening relationship
- Trauma sensitivity and awareness when listening
- Responding to the wide range of existential issues arising, as part of deep listening
This course offers a nourishing and safe container to experience ways of deepening confidence, presence, and relational depth through experiential deep listening.
