Befriending Our Difficult Emotions
Weekend Retreat with John Douglas
Friday 26 January,7.30pm to Sunday 28 January, 1.15pm
Feelings and emotions are central to our experience as human beings, yet for many of us, they often appear to be the “enemy”. Yet learning to befriend our difficult emotions can be a key aspect on the path to befriending ourselves.
In this weekend we will take a deeper look at emotions through the lens of the nervous system and look at simple ways to sooth and regulate ourselves using techniques of mindfulness and self compassion.
This will be an experiential workshop with guided meditations and small group discussions as a key aspect of this weekend.
This weekend is open to everyone and will be facilitated by John Douglas, an experienced meditation instructor and practising psychotherapist.
- This course will include:
- A simple introduction to self compassion
- An introduction to the relationship between emotions and the different states of our nervous system
- Guided meditations for supporting ourselves through difficult emotions
